On Monday 23rd Oct, we jumped on a plane to beautiful Bali. What a treat it’s been to explore another culture and peek inside some breathtaking villas all in the name of work!
Taking time out of our every day routine is something we believe in strongly in order to reset, realign and renew ourselves and our businesses. Getting away from it all somehow magically allows you to see things differently and think more strategically about certain things so for us it’s been an enlightening trip to help work out where to take TDS in 2018.
MONDAY// We landed late afternoon and headed straight to the first destination for the week - Cotton House Villas - where we joined the team from The Life Style Edit. For dinner we headed to Motel Mexicola for a delicious Mexican feast and some table dancing!
TUESDAY// We were treated to a day of homewares shopping with Heidi (owner of TLSE) as our tour guide. First stop was Kim Soo the most exotic tropical homewares store. We also toured around to Slab Interiors, Jungle Trader, Quince, Bungalow Living and Kevala Home.
WEDNESDAY// We started the day with breakfast at the Corner House then headed to The Island Houses compound where we spent the day photographing the most amazing villas we’ve ever seen. There are in fact 5 island houses in Seminyak, each one just as beautifully decorated as the next. We walked around with our eyes on stalks trying to take in all of the stunning features. For dinner that night we had a private room at La Lucciola which was another fabulous meal.
THURSDAY// It was a really early start to get out to Ubud before peak hour traffic. We stopped off for breakfast on the way and then made our way to the Holy Springs at Tirta Empul Temple. Our driver Nopi patiently showed us how to present our offerings to the gods, sit in prayer and cleanse in the springs. It was a truly magical experience to be part of and one we will never forget. Before heading back to Seminyak we stopped for lunch at Hujan, great interiors and great food.
FRIDAY// Breakie at Sisterfields before exploring more of Canggu and stopping for crepes and cocktails at Finns Beach Club. Then we were treated to the most stunning sunset at Alila followed by our last group dinner at Da Maria for pizza.
SATURDAY + SUNDAY // We headed out to breaky for the last time with The Life Style Edit gals at Grocer + Grind before heading off to our next accomodation in Uluwatu. It took about an hour to get to the Impossible Beach House and a serious trek down some questionable stairs and bridges!! The walk was worth it when we got to the beach house and looked out to the endless ocean views. This house was VERY different to the Cotton House villas, much more rustic and out in the open which we absolutely loved….until we had a few encounters with nature (a VERY big gecko, a crab in the bathroom the size of a dinner plate and some angry old monkeys hissing at us!) but despite the experiences with Balinese wildlife we thoroughly enjoyed our time spent chilling out at the beach house.
MONDAY// We checked into the Ayana Resort in the morning before heading out to the Bvlgari Resort for lunch, what an absolutely gorgeous hotel this one is!! WOW! We had a little tour of the day spa and restaurants before having a bite to eat in the bar. We headed back to Ayana where we had an afternoon swim and a strategy session before drinks at the Rock Bar and dinner at Sami Sami.
TUESDAY// We had a lovely buffet breakfast before heading to the pool for more 2018 strategy planning. It’s amazing how clearly you can focus when you’re in a completely different environment and don’t have emails dinging at you every five seconds! We had a great few hours planning things for TDS for next year. We treated ourselves to a massage in the hotel day spa prior to checking out and heading to the airport for the evening flight home.
We had such a memorable trip and have returned home revived and ready to tackle 2018 big time!
