The topic of sofa cushions is a controversial one. Some like to pile them on and others find them irrelevant. However, any decorator will tell you that the cushions on your sofa can make or break the style of your room. Emma and Sonya share their advice on the dos and don’ts of cushion styling - with a funny look behind the scenes of what really goes on at The Decorating School.
Always go up a size when buying feather inserts. The cushions will be fuller and fluffier for much longer.
Cushions are a great way to frame your sofa and the easiest way to start is by placing two square cushions at either end. From there you can build on the look by adding cushions of various shapes and sizes.
Always make sure cushions are sitting square, without zippers showing. The image below is the perfect example of how not to style your cushions.
Make sure you avoid polyester-filled inserts, as they will be flat as pancakes in no time and aren’t very comfortable to snuggle into.
